Michael Joseph Carlyle Holton is a professional furniture designer/maker.

Michael was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. His interest in craftsmanship and woodworking began during his high school years. He subsequently excelled while attending the Fine Woodworking Program in Nelson, British Columbia.

Michael chose the name "Joseph Carlyle Designs" to honour both of his grandfathers and that respect for his heritage is reflected in the timeless quality and attention to traditional craftsmanship of his distinctive designs.

Michael's work has been exhibited in the following:

New Works in Wood- Southern Alberta Woodworkers' Society

Canadian Furniture Exhibition.  The "Executive Desk" was accepted for this nationwide tour

Visiting Artist- Emma Lake Collaborative Workshop  provided the opportunity for interaction with artists working with a broad range of materials.

 Michael's "Ballerina Display Table" was featured as the cover photo for the spring issue of Crosscut Magazine.  An article in the Notes and Comments section of Fine Wood working Magazine (Issue #148) featured Michael and his work.
